Wheat starch is not added as an ingredient but is only used during the production process and although there is no wheat flour in the products, we are legally obliged to mention it. Bit weird, we think so too, but of course we follow the rules exactly.

So there's no gluten in the sweets and the amount of wheat starch used in the process is so incredibly low that the claim "gluten free" is perfectly safe according to legal standards.
Several people with gluten intolerance (celiac disease) can tolerate variable small amounts of gluten within a limited margin. The quantity of up to 20 mg/kg for 'gluten free' is based on scientific data. The majority of the people with celiac disease can eat without problems the products that contain less than 20 mg/kg gluten.
