Mattisson Celtic Sea Salt (la Fleur de Sel)
Celtic Sea Salt originates from the Guérande region in Brittany, France. There it is extracted by a 2000 year old method. Of all the salts available, Celtic salt has the lowest sodium content of 89.7%. This makes Celtic salt softer and gentler than all other salts available.
Celtic sea salt has a grey colour because the sea salt mixes with different clay minerals. This makes the Celtic sea salt more mineral rich than other forms of salt. Because the salt is not washed, all the minerals are retained. The clay marshes also ensure that the salt is purified in a natural way, making it pollution-free.
The advantage of 'natural' unrefined salt is that you need much less of it than with 'ordinary' table salt, because the taste is much more pronounced.
Fleur de sel
Celtic sea salt fleur de Sel from Guérande is a slightly different salt than coarse Celtic sea salt. Fleur de sel is a more unique product because it is the top, very thin layer of the basins in which coarse Celtic sea salt is also extracted.
